Registered Nurses Returning to the Bed-Side

This week’s blog contribution is once again from my team mate Patty Ehrenfeld.Â
Today’s economy has hit everyone hard.  My neighborhood is full of foreclosures and I have friends that have been faced with layoffs, reduced hours and reduced pay.  We can all relate with similar stories.Â
As a nurse recruiter for the Sarasota Market of HCA [...]

Where we work

Just read & love the article on HCA West Florida’s West Division in “Advances for Nurses” Volume 10 issue. In it Linda Carter, VP of HCA West Florida’s ortho & spine division, speaks to the success of her departments. Therefore & I am sure not only within these departments, our RNs are encouraged to function & carry many hats to enhance patient care, i.e. bedside education & support for families, GNs mentor ship, cross training & trust amongst each other, including surgeons & other staff within the facilities. She reinforced that we all play a key role in patients healing progress & I believe this is true in any setting: we all can positively impact the outcome.

Spring Ahead and Don’t Look Back

I realized this week that the time will be changing once again.  Time to spring ahead.  Although I hate losing an hour of precious sleep, (especially on the weekend) I love Day Light Savings Time.  It means that spring is right around the corner with summer soon to follow.  Warmer weather and more time at [...]

Managing Expectations

A friend of mine is actively searching for a job.  He recently had an interview scheduled. He got dressed in his best suit, arrived a few minutes early and sat down for his appointment. A few minutes into the interview, the topic of compensation came up. It only took a moment for him to realize [...]
