Virtual Manners

In the virtual world that we operate in, your first impression can be an application, voice message, resume or email.  In any job market, but especially a competitive one, it is important to project the best impression.  Often times, this virtual impression is the first one.  Make it count with a few of these tips.

Hello Readers

Hello out there in cyberspace.  Well believe it or not this blog has been going strong for just about seven months now.  I thank you for reading and finding out more about what goes on behind the scenes.  Now, I want to open the floor up to you.  I’m very interested to find out  what you want [...]

World No Tobacco Day, 31 May 2009

I’ve quit for the second time 7 weeks ago! The last time I’ve managed 11 years without - after smoking for 13 years! This time around I vouch to distract myself in other, healthier ways when I get stressed etc. vs. picking-up a cigarette ever again!

I always enjoyed *smoking*, but never the taste of cigarettes afterwards – hence my preference for menthol cigarettes! At first I had to remind myself of why I wanted to quit over & over again, but within a few weeks it’s gotten less & less that I think about lighting one up again. I actually stopped thinking about smoking on a daily basis after around three weeks! I quit cold-turkey only because I am too stingy to spend more money on this old habit of mine, plus I am strong-willed!

But I know that not everybody can just quit like that! The happier I am about the FREE program I’ve learned about sponsored by local government to help smokers quit their habits once & for all! You can call the Quitline 24/7 @ 1-877-U-CAN-NOW (877-822-6669) to learn more about their services & free resources, i.e.:

- Counseling sessions
- Self help materials (free patches etc.!)
- Counseling & materials
- Pharmacotherapy assistance

In support of World No Tobacco Day, sponsored by WHO (World Health Organization), I wanted to post about our local resources & hope it can help you to achieve your goals & nip this *stinking* habit! Good luck!

Why choose HCA?

What sets your company apart from Hospital X down the street?  When candidates ask me this question, I’m go back in time to my own job search.  I also wondered what was different and new.  How did HCA compare to my employer at the time?  I think that there are many factors that go into evaluating an [...]

Return to Work Program featured in St. Pete Times!

We are thrilled about our teammate Patty Ehrenfeld’s recent interview by St. Peterburg Times. She got a chance to speak out about our Back to Nursing Program we offer @ Blake Medical Center for RNs who haven’t been working for awhile & want to re-enter the job market. We are looking to expand this program within our West Florida Division @ Brandon Regional Medical Center & hopefully other facilities in the near future as well. I’ll be sure to post a follow-up as soon as more information is avail.

Motherly Advice

A lot of you know in addition to working at HCA as a full time recruiter, I’m also a full time mother to two little girls.  They keep me on my toes and put a lot of things into perspective for me both at work and at home.  As today is Mother’s Day I thought [...]

Consider An Interim Position

I caught a story on the news recently regarding interim jobs and how they are on the rise.  Interim jobs are the recent trend where job seekers who can not find the full time position, are instead taking part time jobs.  These jobs may or may not be in their field of expertise or industry.  With a [...]
